I spoke with a couple of people and found out this:
• Husker hall RM position is not possible since it is reserved for student affairs ppl
• There will be a new opening in a new dorm for sorta RD position but it is 30hrs/week. International students can't work more than 20hrs. This is a GA position.
• In order to pursue career path in resident director for residence life, i have to have resident assistant experiences.
• went to IA to find out whether i can do 30hrs/week. Found out i can do it through CPT provided if i can get a professor to back me up in class which will be included in memorandum of courses (means the class has to count toward graduation).
So it seemed i have to find out whether there is any class i can take to be part of CPT. During undergrad would be easier but grsd courses are diff. I emailed my prof and asked him already.
If this works out, i will apply for this position or a RA position. The key is to get that a class approved. Please pray for me! If this comes through, i'm going to be busy till i graduate. The best perk would be the living cost + meals are taken care of unless it is just RA position. In that case, i need to combine it with a GA position.
It seemed all this knowledge comes at the right time. Even i knew abt this in the first year, i won't be qualify to apply for CPT yet. If i apply it this year, it is not possible to squeeze 60+ hours plus classes. So this upcoming years are the best time. I'm nervous and scared of what may come. I believe and holding on to that faith. After all it is by faith, not by sight.
Ideally if i can do that RD position/GA position, it will be the best scenario. 30hrs is not as bad as 40 hrs since i was planning to take 12 credits. That's quite a lot if i have to work 40hrs.
